OUR MISSION

Our Mission is to give children in the United States the opportunity to learn the 5,000 years old Chinese culture, as well as improve the cultural level of the state and society. Anyone interested in learning the Chinese language and culture is welcome, regardless of national background, ethnicity, religious or political beliefs.

HISTORY

A group of Chinese parents founded the Wei Hwa Chinese School in 1974 as a non-profit educational institution. Why? Because these Chinese parents did not want their children forgot their mother tongue.

Over fourty years later, Wei Hwa Chinese School has continued to grow and is now one of the oldest and largest Chinese language schools in the Greater Washington DC area. We continue to work diligently to ensure the next generation's success towards Chinese education.

Wei Hwa Chinese School's courses are divided into traditional Chinese phonetic classes and simplified Chinese pinyin phonetic classes, in addition to offering many extra-curricular activities such as Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi, Chinese painting, and folk dancing.
